Jacob Cullen
Founder & Director
Mr. Cullen is the Founder and Director of Language Link, Lda. and has over 9 years of teaching experience. He has taught at the Western Michigan University, as well as in the Michigan State Public Schools system. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Cape Verde from 2004-2006 while teaching English as a foreign language at the São Domingos High School on the island of Santiago. Since then he has led training groups for international organizations, in the private sector and organized a multitude of cultural and social events around the island of Santiago. He is a fluent Cape Verdean Creole speaker. Mr. Cullen holds a Bachelor's degree in English from Western Michigan University.

Derek Moon
Online Program Manager / Instructor
Mr. Moon is an Information Systems specialist with over 10 years of working experience in the Information Systems field including the planning, procurement, implementation, and support of large systems projects in both corporate and academic environments. He has served as the chief technology buyer and specialist for DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, the largest Catholic university in the United States. This experience is in addition to over five years serving on several project teams for Spherion Pacific. He holds a master’s degree in Business Information Technology from DePaul University, in addition to a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Maryland at College Park.

Mareika McLaughlin
Instructional Designer / Instructor
Ms. McLaughlin is the chief instructional designer at Language Link. She has experience teaching English as a second language in primary school, high school, community college, university and language schools. She has voluntarily designed curriculums and developed materials for the Somalian Development Center in Jamaica Plain, MA. The center serves to help teach English and literacy skills to Somalian and Latino pre-literate adult refugees. Most recently she helped get the English department started at the University of Santiago in Assomada, by developing all of the university’s English curriculums. She holds a bachelor’s from Boston College in Psychology and a Master’s in Education for teaching English as a second language from Boston University. She has taught English in America, South America, and now Cape Verde.
